Today all four Beatles met at Ringo’s house to try and figure out some way forward that would convince George to rejoin the band. Negotiations were not successful, and The Beatles would continue as a trio for the time being.
So far in this blog I’ve managed to avoid any reference to contemporary politics, and most especially to He Who Shall Not Be Named. But the analogy to the current state of the US of A is just a little too perfect. As of this writing our government remains shut down for the 22nd day, with no resolution in sight, because of one man’s love of walls.
Well, The Beatles eventually found a way out, and I suppose America will too. Patience is the thing. Serenity now.
I don’t think it’s about the wall. It’s about a “win.” Okay … back to floating Buddha-like above the hubbub.
At 10 years after 1/12/69, Pink Floyd is in the studio recording their wall. A little known fact, Syd Barrett wanted to call the album “Steel Slats” and quit when Yoko said no.
That’s funny, I was thinking about Pink Floyd a lot this week too. Someone needs to record a new version of “The Wall” with updated lyrics.
