At this point the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album was really starting to, er, come together. Today a final mono mix of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” was completed and the brass overdubs were added to the title track.
By my count, the only songs they’d yet to start recording were “She’s Leaving Home,” “With a Little Help from My Friends,” “Within You Without You,” and the “Sgt. Pepper” reprise. But there was still a lot of tweaking, overdubbing, mixing, and manipulating to be done before the album was finally put to bed on April 21. Let’s take a little rest before we jump back into things on Monday.
