After breaking new ground yesterday with “Strawberry Fields Forever,” today The Beatles retreated to familiar territory. With December looming, it was time to record the annual Christmas single for the fan club.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, “Paul did most of the work on it,” according to Ringo. The single is a mix of music and skits, some of them quite bizarre — a certain amount of cannabis no doubt having contributed to the creative process.
