Today saw the release in the U.S. of the compilation album Yesterday and Today, a shameless money-grab made up up of tracks deleted from the American versions of Help!, Rubber Soul, and the upcoming Revolver (as well as both sides of the “Day Tripper”/“We Can Work It Out” single).

Y&T would become best known for the controversy over its original meat-and-dismembered-babydoll-themed cover, which was quickly yanked from circulation at great expense to Capitol Records. I’ve already written a little about this in a previous entry; and since time is of the essence at the moment, for further coverage I’m going to point you to The Beatles Bible, whose take is thorough and well-written.
