The Beatles’ seventh and last Christmas single is clearly the product of four independent camps; it doesn’t sound like any two of them were ever in the same room at the same time. It’s kind of entertaining, with some funny dialogue from John and Yoko and a nice little ditty from Paul, but it wanders pretty far afield as it goes on. And a certain sense of sadness hangs over all; you can tell the end is near. Well, enjoy it while you can, if you can.
