Today the “Something”/“Come Together” single was released in the UK and, man, that’s a lot of bang for your buck — or pound, I guess. It’s almost perverse to put two such great songs on one 45, and in some markets they competed with each other for chart position, keeping them out of the top spots.
With its swampy texture and vaguely creepy lyrics, “Come Together” is about as close as The Beatles ever came to a song appropriate for Halloween. I’m hard-pressed to come up with another nominee… “Mr. Moonlight,” maybe? “Helter Skelter,” I guess, if you think of it as the soundtrack to mass murder. Am I forgetting anything?
I can’t think of anything.
I’m gonna go with Tomorrow Never Knows. Could be something you hear in a funhouse and/or haunted house
