By tradition The Beatles made a Christmas single every year that was distributed to members of the fan club. Also by tradition, each one was a little weirder than the one before, and this year’s was no different. Smoke ’em if you’ve got ’em, and settle in for a bumpy few minutes:
This was the sixth and next-to-last Beatles Xmas single. By Christmas 1969 they would be for all intents and purposes broken up, yet still there would be a single. But that is the ghost of Christmas future. For now, Merry Christmas to those who want to be merry, and for those who are all bah humbug, I got your back too. Christmas is stupid. Right John?
