Today Paul flew to Nice, France to film a sequence to accompany “The Fool on the Hill” in the Magical Mystery Tour movie. Why Nice? Why not? When you’re Paul freaking McCartney in 1967 you go where you please, and you don’t even need to take your passport or any money. Paul had left both at home, but he sweet-talked his way through customs, and a Beatle never needed to pay for anything. They had People for that.

In this case it was Mal Evans who accompanied Paul and his cameraman to France. Upon arrival they checked into their hotel and, I presume, had a Nice meal before going to bed early. They would be waking up in the wee hours to film at sunrise.
