The Beatles seem to have had a strong sense of urgency about finishing Magical Mystery Tour — maybe to prove to themselves that they could carry on without Brian Epstein. After finishing filming on Sunday, today they immediately moved on to begin the editing process. I assume that this started with a viewing of the raw footage, all 10 hours of it.
I guess that was fun, in a way — watching movies of the trip you just took. But having sat through the 52 minutes of the finished film, it’s hard to imagine having to sift through 10 hours of this:
