Today George and Pattie Harrison flew from Greece back to England; in a few days they would be heading to California, where they would come face-to-face with the Summer of Love, and be horrified.

The exact outcome of the Greek island expedition is not entirely clear. All my sources agree that this one of the few times The Beatles actually made money on a business venture. Some say that this is because they did actually buy an island, forget about it for a while, then sell it later for a profit; others say that they merely exchanged their pounds for Greek drachmas in preparation for buying land, then made money on the exchange rate when changing them back.

This is, of course, utterly trivial, and I shan’t waste any more of your time or mine on it. It’s a beautiful sunny summer day here; hope you can say the same.
