In discussing John Lennon’s love of his bed yesterday, I forgot to mention an important fact: that many years later, this love would reach its apotheosis when John and Yoko staged their “bed-ins for peace.” This must have been the fulfillment of a long-held dream for John: to make an impact on the world, including full press coverage, without getting out of bed.

There were we like two angels in bed, with flowers all around us, and peace and love on our heads.

This is anachronistic, of course, if we’re talking about 1966; the first bed-in was in March 1969, the second in May. But still, it needs to be mentioned, and now it has been.
